The Union County High School Bass Fishing Team is about to begin a new season of competitive fishing with some financial help courtesy of the City of Union. During its September meeting this past Tuesday, Union City Council voted unanimously to sponsor the team for the upcoming season. Council approved a $250 sponsorship of the team. Harwood Union High School students Liam Guyette and Tyson Sylvia, with the assistance of boat captain Adam Lamson, finished second June 29 in the Bass Federation’s high school bass fishing championship for Vermont. Competing against 10 teams from across the state, they were the runners-up with a five-fish limit of 14.53 pounds. The Rosemount bass fishing team competed in their second Greater South tournament of the season last Friday, July 12, at Cannon and Wells Lakes outside of Faribault.
