The Fox Valley will be looking — and feeling — springlike this weekend. While temperatures will remain near freezing Friday, that’ll change by Saturday, when sunny, 45-degree weather is expected. The National Weather Service predicted the balminess to continue into Sunday.
Looking to break out the snowmobile one last time? Head north. All trails in Outagamie, Winnebago, Calumet and Waupaca counties are closed, and according to Travel Wisconsin’s Snow Report, most cross-country ski trails aren’t in particularly good condition. The weekend also marks the end of sturgeon spearing season, which began Feb. 13 and draws to a close on Lake Winnebago at 1 p.m. Sunday. On Wednesday, the Department of Natural Resources said 352 sturgeon had been harvested on Lake Winnebago since the season began.
