Area bass fishermen are welcoming the unseasonably warm weather with open arms. While many people are hoping for some cooler weather, that is not the case for bass fishermen, as they are eagerly anticipating the bass to start spawning.
Robbie Breaux of Bob’s Bayou Black Marina said bass fishing has been good recent weeks as the fish are in pre-spawn mode, but it is getting ready to explode once the spawning season begins. “With this nice weather we have been having, the fishing has been real good,” Breaux said. “Considering the current water levels and temperatures, it seems like the bass are in pre-spawn mode right now. They are rubbing up against the banks and are getting ready to lay eggs.”
